Riverside Camp Sites
We have a number of isolated campsites right on the banks of the Murchison River. We have sites ranging in size to cater for small to large groups, some sites have toilets and bins others are bush retreats with no facilities. Regardless of where you stay, the main camp grounds with flushing toilets and hot showers are just a short distance away. Surrounded by lovely shady ghost and river gums, sit and relax listening to the river flow by and watch for the local wildlife to pass by, Big Red and Western Grey kangaroos, Emus, Bungaraas, Thorny Devils, Red and White tail Cockatoos, Pink and Grey Gallahs, The endangered Major Mitchells and plenty more. Dogs and Campfires are welcome. Sorry NO chainsaws.
A few of our more popular camp sites include:
Shady’s Bay—perfect for families with small children, large open camp area with a permanent shelter, swing for the kids, toilet and bins. Heaps of shady ghost gums to keep you cool as you over look a very picturesque spot.
Eagles Bay—it is a nesting ground for the wedged tail eagle, lovely deep swimming hole permanent water all year round, set in a gorge like section of the river, suitable for medium sized groups, camp ground with lots of large shady ghost gums.
Reflection Pool—One of our most popular sites, aptly named because on a still day the surrounding cliffs are reflected in the water like a mirror. Lovely permanent swimming hole, suitable for large groups, sandy camp site with lots of large shady river and ghost gums.
Billy Goats Camp– set on a cliff top over looking an S bend in the river, the views are spectacular, this camp site has a hard base and is perfect for camper trailers.
